Sunday's Projects

I had tons of things to accomplish Sunday. Straighten hair, Chad and I had lunch with my parents for Chad's 30th birthday, I needed to go find some new work pants, bake a cake, and work on paper lantern project.

I rarely ever staighten my hair. Matter of fact, I can not wait until after our wedding so that I can chop it all off. It drives me nuts being this long. Suzanne wanted to see what it looked like strait (with an iron) so I straightened it Sunday. Task #1 accomplished....

We had a great lunch with my parents at Longhorn. After that is was off to Cato, Old Navy, Marshalls and finally Target to find me a new pair of work pants. I didn't want to spend alot of money but finally found a pair that would work at Target for $19.99.
Once we got home it was time to start on Chad's birthday cake. I like to bake sometimes but usually don't have the stuff to do it with. We picked up a cake pan, cake mix and icing while we were at Target.

I got all the ingrediants mixed up and stuck it in the oven. Our new house has a double oven and I am trying to get used to using it. I guess I should have stuck the cake in the bottom to begin with b/c I had to switch it half way through to the bottom section. It still turned out really good!!

While the cake was cooking, I decided to work on my paper lantern project for the wedding. I used some smaller white lanterns for play but plan on using blue 10" or 12" lanterns for the wedding. I also used some pink ribbon, I'll probably use the same shade of pink and alternate every other lantern with a bright sunshine yellow ribbon as well. I think it will have to be smaller ribbon, this seemed to be too wide.

Here are the finished products................
and the winner is.............
.........the sand dollars!! Now time for me to order the real lanterns and work on those. It was really difficult to get the ribbon on strait. I tried to follow the wire and then realized it is spiraled, so it didn't get glued on straight. I think if i use smaller ribbon it will be easier to put together. I will order a few extras of the blue lanterns and an entire roll of ribbon so that I can make mistakes, lol

Looking Good! You are turning into a regular DIY Queen HAHAHA! I agree with the smaller ribbon though so it doesn't overwhelm the lantern but love the sanddollar!!! I like the daisy as well!
